Shakespeare Week in The City

From to

Celebrating the 450 years since the birth of one of the greatest writers in history, Shakespeare Week in the City takes place at the Guildhall Library.

Many Shakespeare-themed and inspired events are taking place, offering something for literary fans of all tastes. Among the events, Shakespeare’s London Theatreland looks at the remarkable theatres that sprung up during the Shakespearean period of English drama; while A Complete Reading of Shakespeare’s Sonnets sees volunteers reading one of more of the 154 sonnets, with contributions from special guests.

Among more active experiences, the Shakespeare in Southwark and Shakespeare in the City walks see the vibrant and bawdy London of Shakespeare’s time brought to life by actor Declan McHugh. These two-hour tours feature many quotes from the great man himself.
