Echo And The Bunnymen at O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire

Formed in Liverpool in 1978 in the musical hiatus after the punk explosion, Echo & the Bunnymen originally consisted of Ian McCulloch, Will Sergeant and Lee Pattinson, plus a drum machine. Variously styled shoegazing, post-punk and even Goth, their musical style has prevailed through line-up several changes and even the death of one of their members over the years. The band have never been big time rock stars but their low profile has not stopped them acquiring a dedicated fan base who are willing to follow their every change in direction, however small. Their songs have always been on the darker side of pop, perfect for bedroom angst and wet afternoons. Although a founder-member and, ipso facto, band leader Ian McCulloch has not always been a member. Leaving in 1988, he was replaced for a few years, finally working again with Sergeant and Pattinson on another project. This evolved into a reformed version of the band, under its original name, much to the delight of their fans. Pattison, subsequently departed again for personal reasons but the band continues and have released further new albums plus revised versions of older material.
