About

Japanese remake of Clint Eastwood's Oscar-winning 1992 western, transplanting the action and soul-searching to late 19th-century Hokkaido. Shogun Jubei Kamata disappears without trace and builds a new life with his wife. When his sweetheart passes away and Jubei's meagre finances jeopardise the future of his children, he is forced to take up his sword again and earn money as a bounty hunter, beginning a new cycle of violence.
