Watch the hilarious plot unfold during The Comedy of Errors at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre.
Estranged twin brothers, both called Antipholus, are set loose in a city where they manage to cause chaos. To add to the problems, there are another set of siblings also causing confusion in the same city – a pair of servants who are both called Dromio. With the city in question also famed for sorcery, all the ingredients are there for farcical yet beautifully crafted comedy of misunderstanding.
This complex plot was inspired by a farce written by Plautus, with Shakespeare adding his own unique elements of slapstick, violent cross-purpose and social manners gone wrong. Performed in Renaissance costume and with period staging, this is the best way to experience an evergreen classic comedy in its purist form.
