Bakersfield Mist takes to the stage at the Duchess Theatre, starring Kathleen Turner and Ian McDiarmid.
Bakersfield Mist tells the story of an unemployed bartender in her mid fifties. Her life is complicated when she one day buys an old painting from a thrift store. Despite coming close to binning it, she later realises that it might well be a Jackson Pollock, potentially worth millions. When she contacts a world class art expert for advice, he immediately flies over to visit her trailer to authenticate the painting. Little does he know what he’s letting himself in for.
Written by Stephen Sachs, this masterful character piece takes a look at just what makes something authentic, whether it’s a work of art or just someone’s character.
Directed by Evening Standard award winner Polly Teale.
