About

Sensational Butterflies is the new interactive exhibition at the Natural History Museum.

Visitors can take a stroll among hundreds of the colourful creatures, becoming involved in an exhibition in new and exciting ways. Unrestrained and allowed to fly freely among the public, the butterflies are housed in a specially constructed tropical enclosure situated on the museum’s east lawn.

Families go on a journey through the bright life of a butterfly, witnessing the life cycle of one of nature’s most compelling creatures. From a crawling caterpillar to the elegant flying creature, it’s possible to see the butterflies at all stages of their existence. Caterpillar eggs can be spotted, waiting to hatch, and chrysalises are there to be inspected, before the butterfly emerges fully formed.

The exhibition features exotic species from around the globe, creating an enchanting activity-led experience for the whole family.
