Overview

Solomon Northup is a free black man, who lives in 1841 Washington City with his wife Anne, daughter Margaret and son Alonzo. An encounter with two seemingly respectable gentlemen changes Solomon's life forever. He wakes up in chains and learns he has been sold into slavery. For 12 hellish years, he endures physical and mental abuse, clinging to the hope that he might be reunited one day with his loved ones.
