Catch Gupreet Kaur Bhatti's heart-warming new play, Khandan, at the Royal Court Theatre.
A tale of family relationships and tensions, Khandan revolves around the Gill's family living room. Differences in culture, sibling rivalry and, most important of all, cups of tea drive the plot of this brilliantly observed drama about close relations. The matriarch of the family Jeeto is strictly traditional in her outlook, with strong principles and the sensibilities of a bygone era.
Jeeto is disappointed in the path that her eldest son Pal is taking. She's concerned that he lacks her belief in hard work and isn't dedicated enough to fulfil his role as head of the family. Can Pal cope with managing the ever expanding family and the burden of responsibility? With his father no longer with them and the family business in trouble, he faces a large challenge to maintain order and keep the last family links to the Punjab.
