Beast catches a father stealing a rose from his garden and agrees to spare the old man's life in exchange for the company of one of his three daughters. Kind-hearted Belle submits to Beast's demand and takes her father's place at the enchanted castle, which is blessed with talking mirrors, animated statues and a magical candelabra. Initially, Belle is repulsed by her gruff and hideous host but over time, sees through his hirsute exterior and glimpses the wounded heart beating within.
