The Anatomy Of A Suit at Museum Of London

Unstitch the secrets of the humble suit at the Museum of London’s The Anatomy of a Suit exhibition, which deconstructs the suit jacket.

Where past studies of the suit have failed to look at the clothing as examples of engineering, this display literally turns it inside out to reveal the technical genius involved in its construction.

The suit has the ability to change the entire look of the body, with careful tailoring and design work. As most of the secrets in the makers’ work are hidden inside the garments, small details are easily overlooked.

Part of the London Collections: Men celebration, this show boasts a number of historical suit jackets from markets across the capital. They’ve been dissected so that visitors can see the technical skill that subtly lurks beneath the suit’s outer appearance.
