The Deutsche Börse Photography Prize 2014 exhibits some stunning images from some of the world’s greatest photographers at The Photographers’ Gallery.
Four photographers have been shortlisted as contenders for the highly sought prize: Alberto García-Alix, Jochen Lempert, Richard Mosse and Lorna Simpson. A selection of their finest photographs are on display to the public before the winner is awarded a cash prize of £30,000.
Irish photographer Richard Mosse has been nominated for his picture The Enclave, in which he documents a haunting landscape that has witnessed terrible tragedy in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.
Lorna Simpson from the USA has been selected for her work that links photography, text and video installations.
The chosen works by Germany’s Jochen Lempert are a curious mix of the scientific, the poetic and the humorous.
While Alberto García-Alix has been nominated for his book featuring black and white self-portraits.
Combined, these amazing and diverse images more than live up to their prize-worthy reputations.
