The hit musical Avenue Q returns to the capital at the Greenwich Theatre.
The lovable coming of age satire is loosely based on the famous television show Sesame Street, parodying their engaging mix of puppets and catchy songs. When a recent college graduate moves to the neighbourhood of Avenue Q he’s in search of his hopes and dreams. The unfortunate reality is Gary Coleman repairing toilets, an unusual girl next door (Kate Monster) who wants to open a school and online sex expert Trekkie Monster and closet gay Republican Rod. These unlikely characters, vividly brought to life as lovable puppets, teach the student about the quirks and foibles of the real world.
Witty and sharp, the show features favourite tunes that includes Everyone’s a Bit Racist. Regarded as a classic of the genre, this lively musical manages to be as provocative as it is endearing.
