For a taste of the cultural delights of Japan head along to Trafalgar Square for Japan Matsuri 2014.
A small part of the capital is transformed into an outpost of Japan with a heady mix of music, dance, food and family entertainment. A host of special guests occupy the main performance stage during the day, interspersed with appearances from Radio Taiso. Taiso are famed for their powers of getting audiences to interact with the show, putting the crowds through the paces of the mass exercise routines that are familiar to anyone who has grown up in Japan. Highlights from the musical side of the festival include the unmistakable sounds of taiko, along with the lively Nodojiman, which audiences are also encouraged to take part in.
Fine food is on offer with a broad range of Japanese delicacies, while children of all ages can lose themselves in the wonders of Japanese cartoons with the Manga Wall. With something to enjoy for all the family, this is the perfect mix of culture and fun.
