Ray McVay directs the big band with the 1940s sound. The orchestra was founded in 1988 with the theme of Moonlight Serenade which remains the same to this date, this was also the theme for Miller's radio programmes. The orchestra consists of a leader, four trumpets, four trombones, five saxophones, three rhythm and vocalists, which is the same set-up which Miller devised. Throughout the orchestras time as an ensemble there have been some changes in the music, but they have managed to stay true to Glenn Miller's sound and style. Glenn Miller was a bandleader in the swing era, an American jazz musician and a composer. Miller also recorded his music with his Army Air Force Band and pre-war civilian bands. The latest line-up of the band features Jan Messeder, Colin Anthony, The Uptown Hall Gang and The Moonlight Serenaders. The band re-create the scores by Miller with their instrumental and vocal abilities.
