Dame Edna is called upon once again as Barry Humphries' Eat, Pray, Laugh arrives at the London Palladium this winter. Australia’s finest ever export sadly announced that he is to retire his great comedy creations this year. Mercifully though, he is taking them out on tour for one last hurrah, treating audiences to a final encounter with the likes of Sir Les Patterson, Sandy Stone and – of course – Dame Edna Everage.
Grotesque, satirical but above all hilarious, the quick witted alter egos of Humphries have already played to rousing standing ovations down under. With spectacular sets and gorgeous dancers, Dame Edna promises to empower her audiences with what she describes as ‘a meditation on loss, gender, climate change, gay marriage and ethnicity’.
One of the greats of the comedy scene for 50 years, now is definitely the time to catch Humphries if you’ve not witnessed his brilliant live act before.
