Riding the thunder of military drumbeats, sporting Mohawks and aviator sunglasses, this Californian three-piece embark upon their biggest UK tour to date. It has been 12 years since 30 Seconds To Mars' conception and their growing popularity is undeniable: 3.5 million albums sold worldwide, Kerrang! and MTV awards on the mantelpiece and a triumphant headline slot on the second stage at Download 2010. Their third studio album This Is War has been globally lauded but its production was a painful process for frontman and chief songwriter Jared Leto: "It took two years - we went to hell and back. At one point, I thought it was going to be the death of us." With the help of producers Flood and Steve Lillywhite (whose credentials include U2, The Rolling Stones and Nine Inch Nails) the album was finally released at the end of 2009, unleashing a collection of impassioned hard rock songs.
