Fans of traditional dance will want to witness The Winter’s Tale as it arrives at the Royal Opera House in London's West End.
The production, courtesy of the Royal Ballet, is the world premiere of a new full length adaptation by Artistic Associate Christopher Wheeldon. Based on Shakespeare’s evergreen story of love, loss and reconciliation, this stage show is a mix of romance, comedy and drama. A jealous Sicilian king accuses his wife of having an affair with his best friend, and then sentences his baby daughter to death. The girl is secretly smuggled away to the countryside where she is brought up as a shepherd’s daughter, unaware of her true, royal identity.
With classic, fairytale elements and music by The League of Gentlemen’s Joby Talbot, the show's ingredients promise an enchanting production of a true classic.
