Overview

Ten highly talented designers and artists have been shortlisted for the third Jameel Prize at the V&A.

Creating works that are directly inspired by sources rooted to the Islamic tradition, the selected artists hail from countries as diverse as Algeria, Brazil, Kosovo and Norway.

Chosen from around 270 nominations and all looking to bag the £25,000 prize, the artists have conjured up some beautiful and thought-provoking works.

These efforts include everything from Arab typography and calligraphy to fashion inspired by the Hagia Sofia in Istanbul.

Throw in a little social design and video installation and a few precise miniature drawings and you’ll have an idea of the artistic treats on offer.
