St Martin's Courtyard will be celebrating food and flowers in a special festival that pays tribute to Covent Garden’s heritage.
Between 12 noon and 5pm on Saturday 13 July, restaurants in Covent Garden’s pretty shopping and dining destination will be serving up dishes and drinks with a floral theme, al fresco in the courtyard.
Jamie’s Italian will spit roast a whole lamb al fresco, accompanied by rose jelly, floral breads and floral infused cocktails.
Suda Thai will be serving Chor-muang: steamed Thai dumplings handcrafted into a flower shape, from a Bangkok-style street food cart in the courtyard. Don’t miss the viola-garnished cocktails and demonstrations of the Thai art of fruit carving.
Modern Mexican restaurant Cantina Laredo will be hosting a pop-up bar where 2,000 limited edition Casa Ambar Hibiscus Margaritas will be given away. Inside the restaurant, diners will be treated to a Squash Blossom dish (also known as zucchini flower), stuffed with feta cheese and fresh herbs, coated and fried in a light batter with a drizzle of sweet and spicy chilli honey.
Italian enoteca Dalla Terra are hosting mini master-classes in wine tasting throughout the day focusing on how floral notes influence the palate, the popularity and food choice.
Visit Dishoom’s Bombay bar in the courtyard for a rose and cardamom lassi or Bombay Pimm’s made with rose syrup.
Indulge a sweet tooth with floral cupcakes from Bill's market barrow.
The courtyard will be dressed with a fabulous floral installation and displays of floral prints will adorn the windows of the international flagships and boutiques.
Shoppers can also enjoy live music from vintage singing duo Verity and Violet and big brass band Hackney Colliery Band.
Covent Garden was traditionally the home of the Flower Market - made famous by Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady - and is now a renowned foodie destination.
