For those who like their rock straight, no chaser, then Airbourne will be right up their strasse. Although formed in 2003, the Aussie combo burst onto the international scene with their first album Runnin' Wild in 2008, winning Best Debut Album at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods awards ceremony in the process. Starting out in Warrnambool, a small drinking town on the southwestern coast of Victoria, Australia, they followed the traditional path of exciting live shows, leading to their current level of international acclaim. It hasn't always been easy for the band, as their song No Way But The Hard Way, reflects but life has certainly improved of late and looks set fair for the future. Their brand of balls-out, bare-chested heavy rock may remind the casual listener of their fellow cobbers AC/DC but Airbourne seem to have an extra level of energy over the other band. Perhaps they're just hungrier. OK, there's very little subtlety and not a little sexism but what else do you want on a Friday night after a week of work but a few beers and some loud rock'n'roll? If that's your desire then Airbourne are just the band to fulfill it.
