The Royal Ballet’s charming, energetic and joyful production of Don Quixote is an essential experience at the Royal Opera House.
Adapted from a portion of Miguel de Cervantes’ famous novel from the Spanish Golden Age, this highly entertaining work tells the story of a knight, Don Quixote, who is slightly at odds with reality. Partnered by his loyal squire, Sancho Panza, he is on a journey looking for adventure when he encounters his apparently ideal woman, an innkeeper’s daughter named Kitri. Their lives are thrown into inevitable chaos when it transpires that her father has plans for her to marry a wealthy nobleman. Can the charismatic yet deluded Quixote solve the complex romantic entanglement that he finds himself in?
Staged by the legendary ballet dancer Carlos Acosta, this breezy and spectacular production effortlessly captures the sweet natured essence of this evergreen tale of friendship and loyalty.
