The creative team behind the stage version of The Gruffalo have put their heads together once again and created The Snail and the Whale, playing at the St James Theatre.
A charming treat for the family, it tells the story of a tiny snail who is desperate to see the world.
Devising a plan to hitch a lift on the tail of a humpback whale, the unlikely duo go on an amazing journey in which they have to navigate dangers including sharks, icebergs, volcanoes and, most startling of all, penguins.
When disaster strikes and the whale becomes beached, how can the tiny snail ever hope to rescue him?
Inspired by the work of Storybook Soldiers, who help British military personnel abroad to record bedtime stories for their children, the amazing journey of the snail is seen through the eyes of a girl who wished to be travelling with her seafaring father.
