Overview

Ageing cellist Peter is diagnosed with early-stage Parkinson's disease and elects to retire gracefully from the classical string quartet that has been his surrogate family for 25 years. This impending loss creates friction between emotionally distant lead violinist Daniel, second violinist and his violist wife Juliette in the run-up to a farewell performance of Beethoven's mighty String Quartet No 14, which should be performed non-stop - a test of physical endurance that may now be too great for Peter.
