Classically, bagua is learned alongside fundamental qigong training, initially, to generate a fit and healthy body. Later, as the art developed to realise the teachings of the I Ching (Book of Changes),
\nbagua--with its Circle Walking and short palm changes--can become a form of moving meditation. The Bagua Single Palm Change is the focal point of all bagua training in the monastic and martial traditions. It is not only the first palm change in the sequence of eight, but has the capacity to hold the entire energetic and internal content of the whole bagua system. The Single Palm Change is both where you begin and continuously return to in bagua. Single Palm is the link to experiencing the real flavour and essence of bagua training.
