Miranda Donovan 'Walls' at The Outsiders - Greek Street
Overview
Miranda Donovan’s exhibition ‘Walls’ is her third at the Lazarides Gallery; the show sees how the London-based artist’s work has developed into an utterly unique urban art, evolving through her two previous shows Lost World of Innocence and The Home Unleashed. This exhibition will showcase over twenty paintings that all explore Donovan’s ongoing fascination with walls. Through fusing an exploration into sculpture and colour, the often life-size, three dimensional works, present a manifestation of the melancholic march of time.
\nThe three dimensional aspect of the paintings characterizes Donovan’s work as ‘sculptural paintings’; often 10cm deep in thickness, on initial glance these works may seem to the viewer to be walls literally hacked out from their surroundings. Reproduced in a super-real style through the prism of Miranda’s artistry, the works are liberated and reveal a level of sophistication perhaps not immediately apparent in Donovan’s previous work.
