Miriam was born into poverty in a South Africa divided by Apartheid, and music and politics played an equally important role in her life. This absorbing, toe-tapping mix of archive footage and interviews is a fitting tribute to an international star and an extraordinary woman. The film is directed by Mika Kaurismäki and stars Miriam Makeba.
