Madeleine Botet De Lacaze: The Shell at Toynbee Studios

Madeleine Botet de Lacaze, 'What really fascinates me are those moments in life when my mind says ‘yes’ but my body doesn't respond, when even though my mind says ‘yes do it’ my body stands paralysed and afraid. Those ephemeral and personal limits can draw us to repeat what we already know and what makes us feel safe'. In an intimate climate a tension is created by Madeleine’s body and the image of her body. There is an emotional dialogue between the two (body and image) which connects with the audience in a shared live moment. Madeleine Botet de Lacaze is an Argentinean Artist based in London. Her background was in film and photography until she came to London to do a Master in Performance Art. Since then her life and work has changed completely.
