Performing arts: Intensive Noh workshops
Overview
Noh Teacher Akira Matsui, of the Noh Kita School, and Living National Asset, will visit from Japan to conduct workshops to learn Noh singing and dance. During the workshops, you will also receive an introduction to Noh instruments (nôkan flute, ôtsuzumi and kotsuzumi hand-drums, and the taiko stick drum).
There will be a series of four workshops:
Workshop 1: 6 March 7-9pm at SOAS, Room B111 (Brunei Gallery).
Workshop 2: 7 March 10am-4pm at Daiwa Foundation Japan House, 13/14 Cornwall Terrace, London NW1 4QP.
Workshop 3: 8 March 10am-4pm at Daiwa Foundation Japan House, address as above.
Performance of Akira Matsui’s shimai: 8 March 6.30pm at SOAS Main Building, Room G52, School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, Thornhaugh Street, Russell Square, London WC1H 0XG. Admission free. Booking not required.
Workshop 4: 9 March 10am-4pm at SOAS, room L67, main building.
