Creativity Inspired by Plants: Discover the Lost Art of Nature Printing at Chelsea Physic Garden
Overview
Discover the Lost Art of Nature Printing with Designer and Printmaker Pia Östlund. Nature printing is a wonderful way of depicting and discovering plants, which was developed by physicians in the 15th century as an aid in the study of plants. The day begins with an illustrated talk on the history of nature printing, followed by a printing session where you will learn how to make your own impressions using fresh plants and oil-based inks on paper. Participants also enjoy the rare opportunity of viewing some exquisite nature printed books from the Garden’s collection of original botanical works.
