Bach Study Day: The Brandenburgs at Kings Place
Overview
Linked to the OAE’s series of Brandenburg concerti performances, the Orchestra present a study day dedicated to Bach’s collection of six concertos. In the morning we’ll be taken on a journey from Bach's workshop to Kings Place with Hannah French taking a look inside some key performances of the Brandenburg Concertos since their publication in 1721. Scores, recordings, films, and concert programmes created by some of the greatest artists and ensembles of the 18th to the 21st-centuries will bring to life the cultural context of this colourful collection of concertos. In the afternoon we will take a more detailed analytic look at some of the music. We will be joined by John Butt, who will conduct all of OAE’s performances at Kings Place as well as OAE players.
