Joby Taylor, a rock frontman in his twenties, complete with black chipped nails and a short fuse, is in the icy landscape of his hometown for the first time in many years to complete divorce proceedings and gain his share of a house that he’s never made a mortgage payment on. Despite his unendearing situation, the beautifully slow build that takes Joby from a day-to-day existence of music and drinking to the realisation that he must sign parental rights to a six year-old daughter he’s never met is compelling.
