Overview

Chamber Music 2000, one of the Schubert Ensemble’s proudest achievements, was set up in 1998 to create a repertoire of works for piano and strings that can be played by young and amateur musicians. The Lawson Trio, who are becoming recognised as one of the UK's finest young chamber ensembles, have worked on the project alongside the Ensemble since 2006, coaching groups and commissioning new works. In this concert, the Lawson Trio perform a work written for them by Anthony Powers, a long-standing friend of the Schubert Ensemble who celebrates his 60th birthday in March 2013, together with a movement from Cheryl Frances-Hoad’s witty Five Rackets For Trio Relay for double piano trio.
