The Schubert Ensemble: Enescu, Fauré at Kings Place
Overview
The Schubert Ensemble has always had a passion for championing neglected works of the past that deserve a wider hearing. This concert offers the chance to hear Enescu’s ravishing First Piano Quartet (1909) played by an Ensemble that has taken this composer to their hearts. It is a late romantic masterpiece of colourful and virtuosic writing that takes the piano quartet medium to its limits. The performance also features the darkly passionate Second Piano Quartet by Gabriel Fauré, one of Enescu’s most important teachers.
