Bernard Kucinski: K: A Memoir of Brazil’s "Disappeared" at Kings Place
Overview
In K a father looks for his disappeared daughter during the military dictatorship in Brazil. K, a famous Yiddish writer, discovers how the repressive system works and how little he knew of his daughter’s clandestine political life. He blames himself for devoting more time and energy to literature than to his daughter. Based on a true story, the book was written in just two months as an act of catharsis for Brazilian journalist and political scientist Bernardo Kucinski, who in real life is the brother of the disappeared woman.
