Anders als die Andern (Different from the Others) at The Wiener Library
Overview
A German film produced during the Weimar Republic noted for being one of the first sympathetic portrayals of homosexuality in cinema. The story of a violinist who falls in love with one of his students was designed to challenge the existing German laws which made homosexuality a crime. The film became a target for the Nazis and was one of the 'morally corrupt' works destroyed in the 1930s.
