Kamiya Etsuko No Seishun at ICA Institute of Contemporary Arts
Overview
Etsuko Kamiya is a country girl expecting to marry in the coming years. Despite her sibling’s efforts to set her up with army engineer Nagayo, Etsuko’s heart belongs to Nagoya’s friend Akashi, a young military man who has been conscripted as a kamikaze pilot. A tragic yet quaint love story set in the closing stages of WWII. Like many of Kuroki’s works, the film examines the traumatic consequences of war.
