Jools Holland's Festival of Boogie Woogie and the Blues at Boisdale Club
Overview
Fresh from the success of last year’s widely acclaimed album ‘The Golden Age Of Song’, Boisdale’s patron of music Jools Holland curates Joolsfest, a two week long celebration of the music that he loves, featuring the biggest names in boogie woogie and The Blues. Jools is the headline performer at the spectacular opening night where there are two grand pianos on stage and the best boogie-woogie specialists in the world battling it out in a cutting contest. Jools' guests on the night include jazz legend Neville Dickie, famous for his 1969 hit 'Robin’s Return' and the gold album 'Back To Boogie' plus Axel Zwingenberger and Ben Waters, the stars of Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts’ other band, the ABC and D of Boogie-Woogie. Also performing is the brilliant pianist and singer Jordan Marsh. The stellar line-up of piano talent is accompanied by the rhythm section from Jools's Rhythm and Blues Orchestra featuring ex-Squeeze drummer Gilson Lavis, bassist Dave Swift and guitarist Mark Flanagan. With so much raw energy and intense piano skill on stage, this is without doubt a unique spectacle not to be missed
