Qat, Coffee and Qambus: DJ Chris Menist at The Mosaic Rooms

Chris will play rare Yemeni vinyl singles from the ‘60s & ‘70s, featuring vintage oud and vocal music from Yemen. Although part of the Arabic musical tradition, Yemeni music takes its rhythmic lead as much from the East African coast as the surrounding Arab Peninsula. The night will give a flavour of the sights and sounds of Yemen, one of the world’s oldest civilisations, as well as music from the region and beyond, from across the Red Sea, to the Indonesian archipelago.
