Overview

After forming in 1977 to promote Ian Dury’s album New Boots and Panties, Chaz Jankel, Charlie Charles, John Turnbull, Mick Gallagher and Norman Watt-Roy became known as The Blockheads, enjoying a string of hits including Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick and Reasons To Be Cheerful Part 3. The inspiration for Mat Whitecross’s 2010 film Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll, the band features some of the most eccentric and loveable characters from the new wave generation, who have continued to tour up and down the country since the death of Dury in 2000.
