Overview

Three Hollywood heavyweights square up in this Tennessee Williams adaptation scripted by Gore Vidal. Toning down the more grotesque elements of Williams' play, Mankiewicz focuses on the conflict between an imperious matriarch (Hepburn) and her poor but beautiful niece (Taylor). Clift is the doctor who must discover the truth about what happened last summer before it is too late.
