Pirates at BFI Southbank
Overview
Probably the most surprising film of Polanski’s career, Pirates is a parodic swashbuckler with Walter Matthau (complete with dodgy Cockney accent) as Captain Red, shipwrecked with a young sidekick and clapped in irons on board a Spanish vessel. Cue for much semi-comic shenanigans as the pair attempt to outwit their captors.
