Ping Pong at BFI Southbank
Overview
Filled with quirky scenarios and surreal imagery, Ping Pong merges a suspenseful narrative with Chinese mysticism. Depicting the East-West cultural clash, it’s shot in London’s Chinatown and tells the story of a British-Chinese policeman who returns to Hong Kong and comes up against cultural barriers. Plus Red (UK 1995, dir Rosa Fong, 26min): funded by the BFI Production Board as part of its New Directors scheme, Rosa Fong’s visually impressive short film examines the British-Chinese culture clash.
