Lunchtime Vocal Recital: Jessica Summers, Jelena Makarova at St. Martin-in-the-Fields
Overview
A programme of contemporary vocal music including the world première of a new work by leading composer Richard Causton. Soprano Jessica Summers has performed throughout the UK and abroad both on stage and as a recitalist. Her wide repertoire ranges from Hildegard von Bingen to Sir Harrison Birtwistle and has taken her to venues as diverse as HMP Wandsworth and the Royal Albert Hall. She has sung for English Touring Opera for several seasons as well as for the Royal Opera, Covent Garden. She has given many recitals, performing mainly twentieth century repertoire. Russian-born Jelena Makarova studied at the State School of Arts for Gifted Children, Lithuania and at the Lithuanian Music Academy, winning 1st prize at the National Competition for Young Pianists. She graduated in 2000 with a Master’s Degree with all-round Distinctions.
