David Amery: Poetry and Place - Reading Poetry Through Maps at The Epicentre
Overview
A session with David Amery, who introduces a novel approach to poetry reading, combining it with map reading in a way which brings both to life. There is a close reading of maps and poems with the involvement of everyone in the group. Looking at poems by romantic and modern poets alongside maps of their original settings, he aims to pinpoint their exact locations, track their movements and create a three- dimensional picture of their landscapes. All are invited to read a short poem of their own featuring a particular place.
