Critical Mass + Q&A at White Cube: Bermondsey
Overview
In this film, Antony Gormley discusses his major installation Critical Mass. Describing it as a group of 'bodies that have fallen out of society', Gormley reflects on how this seminal work attempts to recover the body after late Modernism's rejection of it. Critical Mass incorporates body forms cast in twelve different postures and situated on the floor, ceiling and walls of the exhibition space, encouraging the viewer to experience what the artist has described as our 'inherent emotional engagement with the body'.
