Murder in the Library: An A-Z of Crime Fiction at The British Library
Overview
Occupying the imagination of the readers of books, not to mention the watchers of films and television, fictional criminal activity continues to fascinate, currently accounting for over a third of all fiction published in English. This new free exhibition at The British Library aims to cast a detective's eye over the development of crime fiction throughout the ages, from its origins in the early 19th century through to contemporary Nordic Noir, via Sherlock Holmes, Miss Marple and the fiendish plots of Dr Fu Manchu. Journey through classic locked-room mysteries, tales of murder and mayhem in quaint villages and gritty adventures on mean city streets - Deerstalker and magnifying glass not mandatory!
