Boxing Day at ICA Institute of Contemporary Arts

Overview
The latest Tolstoy short story adaptation by writer-director Bernard Rose (The Kreutzer Sonata) and leading man Danny Houston, based on Master and Man, is an impressive two-hander. Matthew Jacobs stars as Nick, a troubled chauffeur who drives Basil, a real estate prospector, around wintery Colorado and into the heart of the Rocky mountains to look at a series of potential investments. When the journey becomes potentially fatal, Basil must decide whether he's prepared to sacrifice himself for the life of another, and the real grist of the drama shines through from the tense and absorbing interplay between the two markedly dissimilar souls.
