Exhibition Tour at Royal Opera House
Overview
A guided tour of the exhibition paying tribute to legendary conductor Georg Solti to celebrate the centenary of his birth. The exhibition is curated by ROH Collections. Georg Solti was one of the 20th century’s most influential conductors, and played a key role in the history and development of The Royal Opera and the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House. Royal Opera House Collections Autumn exhibition is part of worldwide celebrations to mark the Solti 100. From his background as a Hungarian Jew and his experiences in the 1930s and 40s, to his creativity and charisma as a conductor, the exhibition offers an exclusive insight into his life and career. The exhibition provides an overview of his work here at the Royal Opera House and includes costumes, designs and photographs. A particular highlight will be material kindly lent by Lady Solti including early family photographs and Solti’s orchestral scores for Wagner’s 'Gotterdämmerung' at the Royal Opera House, all of which help to give an insight into what drove him to become one of the great musicians and conductors of the 20th century.
