McFly at Wembley Arena
Overview
The rightful heirs to that other boys-with-guitars band Busted, McFly formed in 2004 following frontman Tom Fletcher’s botched audition for the aforementioned cringe-pop trio. Whilst the term ‘Busted Reject’ may be enough to cause any self-respecting musician to consider giving up the dream and taking that job in a fast food chain, Fletcher instead focused his attention on creating the next big three-chord boy-band. Joined by bandmates Danny, Harry and Dougie, Tom and his group burst onto the pop scene with debut single 'Five Colours in Her Hair' in 2004, which went straight to number one in the UK. Since then, the band have continued on their rise to pop superstardom, with numerous 'Smash Hit' awards and a BRIT to their names, alongside countless number one singles and albums. They have even appeared on the likes of 'Casualty', 'Hollyoaks' and a critically panned Lindsay Lohan film. Still, with celebrity girlfriends and eight million records sold, they must be doing something right.
