Mysteries of London: Researching The Metropolitan Past at Museum of London
Overview
This course will build your understanding of what history is, and how historical evidence is compiled to make the ‘story’ of history, while improving your computing and online research skills. It is an advanced course for people with some knowledge of the history and archaeology of London. Each week, you will study a different period in London’s development and examine the sources used by archaeologists and historians to reveal its secrets. To help tell those stories, each week’s session will focus on a mystery or conundrum connected to that part of London’s past. What were the mysterious dodecahedrons that the Romans left behind?; Where was Anglo-Saxon London? Why do people say there are ghosts beneath one of the city’s famous Taverns? How many people really died in the Blitz?
